J. Marvin Herndon depicts himself as a “maverick” scientist. Physicist by training, then specializing in nuclear chemistry and geochemistry, he went on proposing a fringe “georeactor” hypothesis on the presence of an active nuclear fission reactor in the Earth’s inner core. Besides being falsified by recent neutrino measurements by KamLAND and Borexino experiments, his hypothesis is ignored by planetary scientists. Actually his theories have been dubbed as “crackpottery”.
More recently, Herndon started producing a number of papers claiming the existence of a “clandestine geoengineering” program based on coal fly ash spreading by “tanker jet aircrafts”. It is useful to remember that the consensus among experts is against the existence of a secret, large-scale atmospheric spraying program (SLAP), as detailed by Shearer et al (2016).
